It's (almost) Valentine's Day!
Here are the transcripts of my recent TikTok.
Did you know that Erzulie is the Haitian Voodoo loa of love (loa meaning deity)? So, Erzulie actually has different forms, such as the Erzulie Dantor.
She is depicted as a large dark-skinned Black woman, who is also scarred and holding her child in a protective manner – like in the picture above. Another form that she has is known as Erzulie Ge Rouge, where she huddles together with her knees drawn up and has fists clenched, whilst red tears come out from her eyes. Even though she's able to have the most splendid moments of intimacy where she has ritual rooms and she also has offerings given to her, she still feels this way at the end of the night because she is crying over the limitations of love.
Valentine’s day is only in a couple of days, so if you'd like to know more about Erzulie, and how she managed to use her gift of Love to challenge Papa Ge the demon of Death: sign up to By The Fire Podcast’s mailing list, where you’ll be able to see a longer video, giving more details about Erzulie.
